Ethical policy of the journal

The journal Diabetes Obesity Metabolic Syndrome adheres to high standards of ethics in scientific publications based on the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ICMJE, and other international organizations.

1. Ethics for authors

  • Authors must submit original scientific worksthat have not been previously published and are not under consideration by other publications.
  • All sources used in the work must be properly cited.
  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the datapresented in the article.
  • If a conflict of interestis identified, authors are required to notify the editorial board.
  • When using patient data, clinical cases, or experiments, authors must provide evidence of informed consentand compliance with ethical research standards.

2. Ethics for reviewers

  • Reviewing is carried out according to the principle of double-blind reviewing.
  • Reviewers are required to evaluate materials objectively, without bias.
  • Information obtained during the review process is confidentialand cannot be used for personal purposes.
  • If a conflict of interestis identified, the reviewer must refuse to review.

3. Ethics for the editorial board

  • The editorial board ensures unbiased decision-makingregarding the publication of articles based on their scientific quality, relevance, and relevance to the journal’s subject matter.
  • The editorial board guarantees the confidentialityof submitted materials until they are published.
  • If ethical violations are detected (plagiarism, data falsification, duplication of publications), the editorial board has the right to reject the article or withdraw an already publishedone.

4. Plagiarism and duplication

  • The journal does not accept for publication works that contain plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or duplicationof previously published materials.
  • All articles are checked for plagiarism using specialized software.

5. Corrections and retractions

  • If significant errors or ethical violations are discovered after publication, the editorial board has the right to:
  • publish corrections;
  • retract the articlefrom the archive;
  • notify the relevant institutions of the violation.

6. Publication fees

  • Articles in the journal “Diabetes Obesity Metabolic Syndrome” are published free of charge for all authors.

    The editorial board does not charge authors for placing articles in open access, article selection and review procedures, preparing the journal for printing, as well as the content of the website and electronic deposit of manuscripts.

Archiving

The journal Diabetes Obesity Metabolic Syndrome ensures the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published materials in accordance with open access policies and international standards for archiving scientific information.

1. Digital preservation

All articles published in the journal are stored in digital format on the server of the journal’s official website. Full-text access to materials is provided free of charge and indefinitely.

2. Archives on the website

The “Archives” section contains all issues of the journal, grouped by year. Each article is accompanied by metadata: title, authors, abstract, keywords, link to the full text (PDF), DOI (if available).

3. Journal indexing

All published articles are indexed in Crossref, Google Scholar, Ulrichsweb, Bielefeld Academic Search Engine (BASE), Directory of Open Access Scholarly Resources (ROAD). Copies of all articles are also stored in the V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine.

4. Backup

The journal’s editorial office regularly backs up all materials to prevent data loss in the event of technical failures.

5. External archiving

The journal supports integration with national and international repositories, such as:

  • National Repository of Academic Texts of Ukraine (if available),
  • Institutional Repositories,
  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe),
  • PKP Preservation Network (for journals operating on the OJS platform).

6. Compatibility with open access policies

Archiving is carried out in accordance with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license, which allows for the free use, distribution, and preservation of scientific materials.

Policy on the use of artificial intelligence (AI)

The journal Diabetes Obesity Metabolic Syndrome supports the ethical use of AI in scientific activities.

  • Authors may use AI tools (translation, editing, analysis), but must declare this in the article.
  • AI cannot be the author of a publication.
  • Articles created entirely by AI will not be accepted.
  • The editorial board may use AI for technical verification, but not for making decisions about publication.
  • In case of ethical violations, the editorial board has the right to reject or withdraw the article.

Privacy Policy

The names and email addresses entered on this site will be used exclusively for the needs of this journal to ensure the publishing process and will in no case be transferred to third parties.

Peer review policies

Peer review

All research articles, reviews and clinical cases, which the journal receives, undergo a peer review. This process is provided by the) reviewers, specialists in the article’s research field. Reviewers after evaluation recommend to the assigned editor (from the journal staff or editorial board) whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised or rejected.

The peer-review process is double-blind. Both the reviewer and the author are anonymous to each other. The editorial staff reserves the right to choose the reviewer. All submitted materials are reviewed and discussed by the editorial board. Authors should only submit original work that has not been previously published.

Articles may only be reprinted with the written permission of the editorial staff and the mandatory reference to the «Diabetes Obesity Metabolic Syndrome» journal. The authors are responsible for the information adequacy and the authenticity of the submitted materials. The Board reserves the right to shorten and edit articles. Rejection of the publication may not be accompanied by any explanation of its reasons and may not be considered a negative opinion on the scientific and practical value of the work.

Articles in the “Diabetes Obesity Metabolic Syndrome” journal are published free of charge for all authors.

Plagiarism policy

We discourage any form of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism detection. For this purpose, editorial staff uses search engines for article text (string matches) and similarities in the bibliography with other articles. Additionally, English text articles are scanned with Grammarly Plagiarism Checker. 

Possible reasons for article rejection

The article has no scientific quality, was previously published in this or others journals, didn’t pass plagiarism check or was not appropriately formatted according to guidelines for authors.

Open Access Statement

The Journal Diabetes Obesity Metabolic Syndrome follows the policy of the Open Access. All the articles are located permanently and free of charge at once after the issue’s publication. The full textual access to the Journal’s scientific articles in the real time mode is provided on the official site of the Journal in the Archives section. 
It corresponds to the definition of the open access from BOAI. The license policy of the Journal is compatible with the most policies of the open access and archiving of materials. 
The Journal works on the license CC Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International. It gives an opportunity to read, to load, to copy out, to expand, to print, to search, to quote or to refer to the full text of the article in this Journal.

Ethics

The parameters of the research, the conditions for conducting them and the qualifications of the researchers must be fully in line with the requirements of the Directives of the European Parliament and Council 2001/20/EC from 4 April 2001, 2001/83/EC from 6 November 2001, European Parliament and Council Decisions 1901/2006 from 12 December 2006 and 1902/2006 from 20 December 2006, the ICH GCP, Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Dignity of the Human Being with regard to the Application of Biology and Medicine: Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine, Laws of Ukraine “Basic Laws of Ukraine on Healthcare”, “On Personal Data Protection”, World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki. Ethical Committees for Biomedical Expertise, Operational Guidelines for Ethics Committees, Ethical Code of Ukrainian Doctor, Code of Ethics for Ukrainian Scientists.

The permission to conduct the research should be provided by the local ethics committee on the basis of familiarization with all its parameters. Patients may be included in the study only after giving them an informed consent to participate in the study.

Журнал «Діабет Ожиріння Метаболічний синдром» – незалежне видання для практикуючих лікарів.

Видається з 2012 року. Мета журналу – післядипломна освіта лікарів-ендокринологів та сімейних лікарів. Аудиторія журналу – лікарі-ендокринологи, сімейні лікарі, вузькі фахівці. 6 тематичних випусків на рік. Розповсюджується безкоштовно серед фахівців і медустанов України.
В жуpналі публікуються пеpедові і оригінальні статті, короткі повідомлення, замітки з пpактики, лекції, огляди, листи в pедакцію. Оригінальні статті супроводжуються коментарями членів редколегії, редакційної ради або авторитетних фахівців в даній області. Надіслані до редакції статті проходять рецензування. Редакція залишає за собою право вибору рецензента. Всі представлені матеpіали pецензуються і обговорюються pедакційною колегією. До публікації приймаються статті, які раніше не видавалися.

Перепублікація статей можлива тільки з письмової згоди редакції та обов’язкового посилання на «Діабет Ожиріння Метаболічний синдром». Відповідальність за достовірність інформації та оригінальність поданих матеріалів покладається на авторів. Pедколегія залишає за собою пpаво скорочувати і pедагувати статті. Відмова від публікації може не супроводжуватися роз’ясненням її причини і не може вважатися негативним висновком щодо наукової та практичної цінності роботи.

Відповідальність за достовірність рекламних публікацій несуть рекламодавці.

Конфлікт інтересів

Конфлікт інтересів, що стосується конкретного рукопису, виникає в тому випадку, якщо один з учасників процесу рецензування або публікації, автор, рецензент або редактор має зобов’язання, які могли б вплинути на його або її думку (навіть якщо це і не відбувається насправді). Фінансові відносини (наприклад, пов’язані з прийомом на роботу, консультаціями, володінням акціями, виплатою гонорарів і висновками експертів), прямі або через близьких родичів – найбільш часта причина виникнення конфлікту інтересів. Проте можливі й інші причини: особисті відносини, наукове суперництво і інтелектуальні уподобання.

Автори при поданні рукопису (будь то стаття або лист) несуть відповідальність за розкриття своїх фінансових і інших конфліктних інтересів, здатних вплинути на їх роботу. В рукопису повинні бути згадані всі особи і організації, що зробили фінансову підтримку, а також іншу фінансову або особисту участь.
